NASA's Blue Marble Next Generation — a cloud-free portrait of Earth assembled from months of MODIS satellite passes, so every region is shown in clear weather at once.
This is Earth as the astronauts describe it: mostly ocean, wrapped in green and tan continents.
How the data was captured
Built from months of daily passes by the MODIS instrument on NASA's Terra satellite, keeping only the cloud-free pixels of each pass until every part of the planet had been seen in clear weather.
